Cate Gardner is a British horror and fantastical author with over a hundred short stories published. Several of those stories appear in her collection Strange Men in Pinstripe Suits (Strange Publications, 2010).

She is also the author of three novellas: Theatre of Curious Acts (Hadley Rille Books, 2011), Barbed Wire Hearts (Delirium Books, 2011) and In the Broken Birdcage of Kathleen Fair (Alchemy Press, 2013).

Her chapbooks Nowhere Hall (Spectral Press 2011) and The Sour Aftertaste of Olive Lemon (Bucket ‘O’ Guts Press 2009) have now sold out, and she is currently working on a novel. Her favourite authors are Robert Shearman, Joe Hill, Neil Gaiman, Gina Ranalli, John Wyndham and Lemony Snicket.

That’s a toughie because CAKE! I’m sure most people would sympathise. I’m going to plump for Apple Cake.

Question 2: Please name your favourite villain

Surely, it’s wrong to have a favourite villain? Bides for time, digs in brain, must be one in there somewhere. Erm… The Pillsbury Doughboy.

Question 3: A stranger walks up to you on the street, hands you a briefcase and says “You know what to do”. How do you react?

Open it expecting to find cake and when I find there isn’t cake, I’m the bomb that goes off. Until, I’m pacified with chocolate cake or battenburg (see how I threw more cake in there because I was having such a hard time choosing earlier).
